Nicholas Royle

received his D. Phil from Oxford, has taught at the University of Stirling, Scotland, and is currently Professor of English at the University of Sussex.

Professor Royle’s work primarily focuses on literature and contemporary theory, with the main emphasis being on deconstruction and psychoanalysis. In addition, Royle has an interest in creative writing which he teaches at Sussex and has published numerous works of short fiction. His books to date include Telepathy and Literature (1991), After Derrida (Manchester: Manchester University Press, 1995), An Introduction to Literature, Criticism and Theory (New Jersey: Prentice Hall 1999), co-authored by Andrew Bennett, Deconstructions: A User’s Guide (Houndmills: Palgrave MacMillan, 2002), The Uncanny (Manchester: Manchester University Press, 2003). He is also currently joint-editor of the Oxford Literary Review.
