Ortwin
de Graef
(Sint-Niklaas, 21/08/1963) studeerde Germaanse Filologie aan de KU Leuven (licentiaatsdiploma
1985). In 1986 behaalde hij het diploma van Master of Arts (English) aan de
University of Hull (UK), waarna hij vier jaar werkzaam was als aspirant van
het NFWO onder begeleiding van Herman Servotte. In 1990 werd hij Doctor in de
Letteren en de Wijsbegeerte aan de KU Leuven met een proefschrift over het werk
van Paul de Man. In 1991 werd hij deeltijds docent aan de KU Leuven en in 1999
werd hij deeltijds hoofddocent. Ondertussen bleef hij werkzaam bij het NFWO
tot 2000, waarna hij als voltijds hoofddocent door de KU Leuven werd tewerkgesteld.
Sinds 1997 is hij academisch secretaris van het Departement Literatuurwetenschap
en sinds 1998 is hij voorzitter van de Facultaire Commissie voor de Voortgezette
Academische Opleidingen. In 1999 werd hij voorzitter van de stuurgroep van de
Interuniversitaire Specialisatie-opleiding Literatuurwetenschap.
