LODGING AND ACCOMMODATIONS IN ROTTERDAM

The Hilton Rotterdam is the main conference hotel.  The NH Atlanta Rotterdam Hotel is the designated alternate hotel.

The Rotterdam Hilton and the NH Atlanta Rotterdam [formerly Golden Tulip] are located in the heart of the main business, entertainment and shopping area of Rotterdam.  They are a 10 minute walk from the Central Railway Station.  Both are on streets that lead to the Town Hall.  

The Student Housing Buildings are located near the Erasmus University Campus. From the Central Railway Station, you can take a taxi (appr. 15 euro) or tram No.1 to get to the Student Housing.

MAKING RESERVATIONS:

1. HILTON ROTTERDAM

• "Superior Room"  115 EURO [about US $100] per night for a Single or Double (does not include breakfast, since continental breakfast is provided at the conference site). 
• "Executive Room" 165 EURO  [about US $144] for a Single or Double (includes complimentary breakfast, coffee/tea maker in room, and other advantages).
• Unlike standard European practice, we have negotiated American-type payment arrangements whereby the cost per night (no tax added) is for one or two persons.  This is not a per person rate.
• You also must mention "IAPL CONFERENCE" in order to obtain these special rates.  These rates are not available through the Hilton International phone numbers.  Reservations by e-mail: cb_rotterdam@hilton.com .  However, as of March 15th, the IAPL 2002 block was already full.

2. NH ATLANTA ROTTERDAM [formerly Golden Tulip]

Additional rooms are still available.

• Single or Double Room 110 EURO (excluding breakfast which is provided at the Book Exhibit Cafe for all registered for the conference).  As at the Hilton, the price above is  for the room (not per person), making sharing of a double room more economical. The Golden Tulip is an classic decor hotel within short walking distance of the Hilton.  You must mention "IAPL" in order to obtain the special conference rate.

3. STUDENT HOUSING

Alternate low cost lodging is available on a "first come first served" basis at the ERASMUS INTERNATIONAL STUDENT HOUSE, which is located within easy walking distance from the university. 

• Single room cost is  350 EURO [about US$305]  for the whole period of the conference — including several days before and/or after the conference. Availability is limited.
• [Note that a shared "Superior Room" at the Hilton or a Double Room at the NL Atlantic Rotterdam is equivalent to six days at the Student Housing facility.]
• Each unit consists of two rooms with shared kitchen and bath. In every room you will find a one-person bed with bedding. Since rooms are effectively apartments, there is no cleaning service. A washing machine is available for free.
• Participants who have made reservations should bring their own bath towels, kitchen towels, and soap . There are no public phone facilities inside the building, although there is an internal phone.

• In addition to the usual availability of a building janitor/manager, an IAPL 2002 Conference Assistant will be on hand during Monday arrivals.

• Keys can be picked up Saturday 12:00 noon – 24:00, Sunday 12:00 noon – 24:00, and Monday from 9:00 am.
