IAPL 2001, the 25th annual IAPL conference, will be held at the Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia on MAY 1-5. Organized around the theme BEGINNINGS, the International Association for Philosophy and Literature looks forward to welcoming you to our 25th anniversary conference. TRAVEL Atlanta International Airport is served by most major airlines and is only a short drive from the Westin Peachtree Hotel which overlooks the famous CNN offices, the Olympic Centennial Park, and many other celebrated downtown Atlanta sites.

BY CAR Directions to Spelman: From I-75/85 North and South---Take I-20 West and exit at Lee Street. Turn right onto Lee Street and continue through the next traffic light (Westview Drive). You will see a large parking lot on the righthand side. Turn right into the first driveway and you will approach the gates of Spelman College. From I-20 West ---Exit at Ashby Street. Cross Ashby Street and continue on Oak Street to the next traffic light. Turn left onto Lee Street and cross the bridge over I-20 and continue through the next two traffic lights. You will see a large parking lot on the righthand side. Turn right into the first driveway and you will approach the gates of Spelman College. From I-20 East ---Exit at Lee Street. Turn right onto Lee Street and continue through the next traffic light (Westview Drive). You will see a large parking lot on the righthand side. Turn right into the first driveway and you will approach the gates of Spelman College. From Downtown Atlanta --- Take Peachtree Street south to Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and turn right. Continue on M.L. King Jr. Drive to Northside and turn left. Continue on Northside through the next three traffic lights (passing Burger King on the right). Turn right on the fourth traffic light (Greensferry Avenue). Continue on Greensferry through the stop sign. Turn left into the gate of Spelman College. There are public safety booths located at both gates of the College. Upon your arrival, the public safety officer (s) will direct you to parking areas and help you with any information you may need. There is visitor’s parking outside the Spelman gates on Lee Street. There is a parking deck inside the Spelman gates to your immediate right after you enter the gates. The parking fee is $3.00 per day (no in and out).
Bus transportation will be provided free of charge and on a regular basis between the Westin Peachtree Hotel and the Spelman campus. Conferees are advised that due to limited parking on campus this is by far the preferred method of travelling between the hotel and campus. Busses will also transport conferees to the Mansion on Saturday night for the special anniversary celebration dinner.

DINING on campus: There are two available choices on the campus: The Alma Upshaw Dining Room (cafeteria), located on the Upper Concourse in the Albert E. Manley College Center, offers an array of freshly prepared items for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Open daily: 7:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. (Breakfast); 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. (Lunch); 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. (Dinner) Chik-Fil-A, located on the Lower Concourse of the Manley College Center, is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, everyday except Sunday.

CAMPUS SERVICES Office supplies/sundries The campus bookstore/post office offers a full range of office supplies, snacks, health care, and related items. It is located directly next door to the Manley College Center. Computer Services The Comprehensive Writing Center, located on the third floor of the Cosby Academic Center, has computers available for use on a limited basis. ATM There is an automated teller machine located on the lower concourse of the Manley College Center.
