Note to Session Chairs

All Session Chairs should respect the allocated time-length for each session.  Sessions should begin promptly at the time indicated.  They should also end at the designated time so as to make room for the next session.

Moderators are asked to maintain strict observance of the time-limits for each paper.   With a few exceptions, papers are restricted to 20 minutes presentation time.   session chairs are asked to remind speakers to keep their papers within these parameters.  Each speaker is entitled to 10 minutes discussion time. Speakers should not be allowed to use up available discussion time.  Session chairs of General Sessions may wish to group closely related papers so as to allow for discussion of two or more papers together.

Organized Sessions, Symposia, and Panels may follow a different format, in some cases holding a more substantial discussion period at the end of all the presentations.   Close Encounters will have special presentational criteria which each Organizer will announce at the beginning of the session.

We hope that all sessions will make ample use of discussion time -- since this is a special feature and pleasure of IAPL conferences.

Session chairs are also asked to indicate to Hugh Silverman or Michael Sanders, Conference Coordinators, which papers were especially valuable, since this will be useful information as he prepares a volume resulting from the conference.
